Steinberg USB-2-MIDI Driver Installation
========================================

WINDOWS XP INSTALLATION
-----------------------
 1.Boot Windows XP with the USB-2-MIDI connected or
    connect it after Windows XP has been booted.
 2.Windows will detect the presence of a USB Device and
    will start the Found New Hardware Wizard.
 3.Select the advanced "Install from a list or specific
    location" item and push the "Next" button.
 4.Select the "Search for the best driver in these
    locations" item & specify the appropriate source
    for the driver files, then click the "Next" button.
 6.The Found New Hardware Wizard will indicate that it
    found the Steinberg USB-2-MIDI Loader which it
    will prepare to install.
 7.When the "software has not passed Windows XP Logo
    testing" message pops up, push the "Continue Anyway"
    button to indicate that you want to continue the
    installation.
 8.After Windows copies the loader portion of the driver
    the Found New Hardware Wizard will display a screen
    indicating it has finished installing the software
    for this device, click the "Finish" button.
 9.You will then see Windows indicate that it has found
    another new USB Device and it will start the Found
    New Hardware Wizard for the Steinberg USB-2-MIDI
    Driver.
10.Select the advanced "Install from a list or specific
    location" item and push the "Next" button.
11.Select the "Search for the best driver in these
    locations" item & specify the appropriate source
    for the driver files (this should be the exact same
    place you had Windows look for the the previous
    software), then click the "Next" button.
12.The Found New Hardware Wizard will indicate that it
    found the Steinberg USB-2-MIDI Driver which it will
    prepare to install.
13.When the "software has not passed Windows XP Logo

    installation.
14.After Windows copies the USB-2-MIDIdriver the Found New
    Hardware Wizard will display a screen indicating it
    has finished installing the software for this device,

    has detected an Unknown Device, click "Next".
16.Select the advanced "Install from a list or specific
    location" item and push the "Next" button.
17.Select the "Search for the best driver in these
    locations" item & specify the appropriate source
    for the driver files (this should be the exact same
    place you had Windows look for the the previous
    software), then click the "Next" button.
18.The Found New Hardware Wizard will indicate that it
    found the Steinberg USB-2-MIDI Driver which it will
    prepare to install.
19.When the "software has not passed Windows XP Logo
    testing" message pops up, push the "Continue Anyway"
    button to indicate that you want to continue the
    installation.
20.After Windows copies the USB-2-MIDI driver the Found New
    Hardware Wizard will display a screen indicating it
    has finished installing the software for this device,
    click the "Finish" button.



WINDOWS 2000 INSTALLATION
-------------------------
 1.Boot Windows 2000 with the USB-2-MIDI connected or
    connect it after Windows 2000 has been booted.
 2.Windows will detect the presence of a USB Device and
    will start the Found New Hardware Wizard.
 3.Click the "Next" button on the first screen.
 4.Select the recommended "Search for suitable driver
    for my device" item and push the "Next" button.
 5.Select the appropriate source for the driver files.
 6.The Drive File Search Results screen will indicate that
    it has found a driver for this device; push the "Next"
    button to install the driver.
 7.After Windows copies the loader portion of the driver
    two things will happen rather quickly:
   a) The Found New Hardware Wizard will display a screen
       indicating it has finished installing the software
       for this device and requesting you to click the
       "Finish" button.
   b) An "Unsafe Removal of Device" screen will be shown
       indicating the "Steinberg USB-2-MIDI Loader" 
       has been unplugged. This is because after the
       loader has completed loading firmware into the
       USB-2-MIDI, the hardware reconfigures itself as a
       new device, reporting this to Windows over the
       USB interface.
 8.Click the "OK" button on "Unsafe Removal of Device" screen.
 9.Click the "Finish" button on the Completing the Found New
    Hardware Wizard screen.
10.You will then see Windows indicate that it has found
    another new USB Device for which it will automatically
    install the Steinberg USB-2-MIDI Driver.
11.The Add New Hardware Wizard will now report it
    has detected an Unknown Device, click "Next".
12.Select the recommended "Search for suitable driver
    for my device" item and push the "Next" button.
13.Select the appropriate source for the driver files.
    (this should be the exact same place you had Windows
    look for the the previous software), then click the
    "Next" button.
14.The Drive File Search Results screen will indicate that
    it has found a driver for this device; push the "Next"
    button to install the driver.
15.When the "Digital Signature Not Found" window pops up push
    the "Yes" button to indicate that you want to continue the
    installation.
16.Windows will copy files and then once again indicate
    it has finished installing the software that your new
    hardware device requires, click the "Finish" button.



WINDOWS ME INSTALLATION
-----------------------
 1.Boot Windows ME with the USB-2-MIDI connected or
    connect it after Windows ME has been booted.
 2.When the Add New Hardware Wizard reports that it
    detected an USB Device select the "Specify the
    location of the driver" button & click "Next".
 3.On the next screen select the "Search for the best
    driver for your device." and then indicate to
    Windows where to look for the driver installation
    files & click "Next".
 4.On the next screen Windows will indicate it has
    searched for the driver files for the "Steinberg
    USB-2-MIDI Loader" and is now ready to
    install the driver, click the "Next" button to
    continue.
 5.Windows will copy files and then indicate it has
    finished installing the software that your new
    hardware device requires, click the "Finish" button.
 6.Next you will see Windows indicate that it has found
    another USB Device & then see it automatically
    install the software for the "Steinberg USB-2-MIDI
    Driver".
 7.The Add New Hardware Wizard will now report it
    has detected an Unknown Device, select the
    "Specify the location of the driver" button
    & click "Next".
 8.On the next screen select the "Search for the best
    driver for your device." item & indicate to Windows
    where to look for the driver installation files
    (this should be the exact same place you had Windows
    look for the the previous software), then click the
    "Next" button.
 9.On the next screen Windows will indicate it has
    searched for the driver files for the "Steinberg
    USB-2-MIDI Driver" and is now ready to install
    the driver, click the "Next" button to continue.
10.Windows will copy files and then once again indicate
    it has finished installing the software that your new
    hardware device requires, click the "Finish" button.

    driver for your device." item & click "Next".

    it has finished installing the software that your new
    hardware device requires, click the "Finish" button.


Steinberg USB-2-MIDI Driver Updating
====================================

 1.Boot Windows with the USB-2-MIDI Midi Interface
    disconnected or disconnect it after Windows has
    been booted.
 2.Run the UNINSTAL program included with these drivers
    and click the "Uninstall MidiSport Drivers" button.
 3.Reboot the system.
 4.Follow the installation instructions listed above
    for the version of Windows that is being used.
